How to remove body trim......

I am thinking with my car in the garage just sitting there, I would work on some of the things that were bothering me, including finally painting the trim. Does anyone know if this trim is clue or riveted? And what is the best way to paint the trim, I was thinking a dull black, too glossy would look cheap. Please help.

I took off a trim piece once. On the front driver fender (the little piece). It was glued on.

So how exactly would you remove it if it were glued, and second what type of glue should I use to clue it back on? Please anyone, I need some help.

Hmm.. not sure but I need to repaint mine too, it is white right now because I got wax on it. I'm trying to find some mothers back to black though I heard that works well to restore the black to them.

on my 89 gt the body trim is held on by bolts as well as rivited sections of metal which pinch the plastic trim to the body as for the trim on the door that is held on by double sided tape which is real fun to get off
all of it is hard to get off just be patient and pry it will come. oh and dont be afraid to give it a tap with hammer , well be careful and good luck !

Hi
the trim is held on with two sided tape, just start prying one corner and pull slowly the trim will come off easy, but it will curl up because there are two metal strips in the tape.you have to remove the strips by using a propane torch, carfully heat the top edge of the strip lift it with a screw driver. when you have the edge up grip it with a vise grip then slowly heat the strip and pull it off.carefull dont get the trim to hot it will melt the edges easly.
To replace use some 3/4" 3m trim tape(good stuff) thats it. oh ya the two moldings just behind the bumper cover are held on with nuts .

The hint for removing the trim is to remove every visible screw because your trim is holding with support. I've already removed all trims on my mustang and on my escort and the little part was glue to.

The visible screw are in the fender and under the car. If the smaller part doesn't look like to come. You probably have to unscrew interior support by inside the fender (You have to remove first the inside plastic fender. The support suppose to look like this. (The picture are from my escort GT but the this is similar)

This part was stuck on the car but the little support can be uncrew. I'm sorry i don't have any picture of mine on my pony. but this is coming this summer.

When every screw are removed you just have to slide up the skirt and it's done.

Please do it carefully. They are fragile in some place.

Hope this help
