Rookie upgrade"?" looking for suggestions and comments also I WTB parts if ne1 has em

I have a 1995 Mustang 5.0 GT convertible... I am looking to get a lil more power without breaking my bank which is not too hard to do these days. here are the mods I am considering.

EEC Tuner
Cold Air Induction
3.73 gears
175 amp alternator (for my car stereo)
and possibly a cat-back of some sort

Currently my car is stock, I was wondering if anyone has any of these parts for sale and also what kind of increase in performance should I see............................ any other suggestions for cheap performance upgrades??

if you have any of these parts or other parts for sale that you would suggest email me at Rusty45398@aol.com

also.... can I add a cobra intake to my GT??? if I did what would that do for my performance?

EEC Tuner dont get that wiat only need it if you have like a new cam And heads and then you still might not need it.
Gears Yes
Cold Air Induction Yes
new EX all the way back from the headers to the back is some thing you might want to do not only will it sounds great It will help with power!
Cobra intake Yes it will work need not sure how much poer it will give you

.....ALSO... I have a Jacobs inginiton kit... just the normal ignition thing... would it increase HP/gas mileage etc on my Mustang??? anyknow know?

Gears are going to be the best thing you can do at this stage. Then maybe the cat back. As far as the EEC Tuner goes you don't need that yet so I'd spend that money on something else.

The Gears and exhaust ideas sound good but: Cobra intake-no, alternator-if you really think you need it, EEC tuner-not needed now. Cold air kit-good but moneywise I would do other things first.

I would do more suspension and chassis stuff first since your car is a convertible. Subframe connectors would be first on my list and I'd look into some new u & l control arms. you can get sets of those for between $150 and $200 ;)

Why no eec tuner? I thought with that I could actually change settings equivilent to purchasing a superchip or other chip mods?? only with more control?

Stang Runner 11-20-2001 04:07 PM

on a STock 5.0 it will not do much at all ONLY after things like a cam or heads the stock one will work fine for you.

Basically any type of chip will not do much to your stock GT, trust these guys on that. I haven't had a chance to do gears yet, but the subframe connectors are the best thing I have ever bought for my car. I didn't think they'd do anything, but I got a great deal on them so I decided to go for it. I'd do it again even if I had to pay twice as much.
Good luck with whatever you choose, and be sure to let us know how it turns out.

The only time you should buy a chip is when a particular setup needs it to run properly. At stock levels you'll waste your money.

Go with gears and exhaust. Long tube headers, a good crossover, and free flowing mufflers will help a lot, but gears will do the most. 3.73's for a manual tranny, 4.10's for an AOD.
