What Carb And Intake Should I Use????
well here is the rest of the info on the car and motor:) I need to know what do you think would be the best carb and intake to use for it, i am in the process of doing a efi to carb conversion and cant make up my mind on what carb and intake to use, I will be also adding a 150 shot of NOS . this car will proble only see track use and maybe once in awhile on a nice weekend! I was thinking also of maybe getting a set of heads for it but will run the stock for now and if it is not enough then i will get heads!
- 88 302 now a(306) forged pistons 10.5/1 compression - heads are stock but ported -total lift of cam is 498 -t5 tranny:( -4.10 gears -full exhaust - few other little things thanks allot in advance guys |
pretty mild combo... shouldnt need a big carb/intake... probably a stealth and a 600-700cfm carb... maybe one of the 670cfm speed demons..
make sure you get a good ignition system too... do you want it to run best on the bottle or N/A? |
what do you mean by "running the best" ?
thanks |
I think what he means is being mainly set up and tuned to run mainly on all motor...or tuned to mainly run on the bottle....
Performer or Performer RPM with a 650 carb would probably work nicely....probably comparable to the Stealth/Demon setup Dark Knight suggest. |
Edelbrok Victor Jr and a holley AED for NOS and a stealth with same carb for NA! either way in a coupe 5 speed car should run 13.0's or so on street tires!!
|
are you set on that cam? I'd use a split duration cam...more duration and lift on the exhaust to make up for the poor flow of stock heads...
the performer is what I'm running with the stock cam, the RPM would work on your set up too... personally, I think the victor jr. is way to much for a mild combo like you have... with the cam you said... max rpms will probably be in the 6200-6400 range.. you dont need an intake that pulls to 8k rpm... fwiw |
well i was thinking the performer rpm and a 750 double pumper i am not to worried about how it drives on the street i can deal with it but i want to make sure this thing is going to get the gas it needs and i dont want vac secondary's, I think i will stay with this cam for now. I would like to be able to run a 13 flat N/A and then throw the pill at it(150) i have a set of slicks for it so traction should not be a problem,
i just dont want to over kill the motor the victor does seem a little to much for it but maybe not, does the performer rpm work good with a plate system?? |
well, you could always try a torker.. single plane but not as extreme as a vic jr., and you can find them used all over.. and cheap too... ;-)
|
like i have said many times, my friends, well...347, runs good on a victor jr, and holley 650 dbl pumpr, it ran low 13's with stock ported heads, and stock 302, now with heads and stroker, low 12's.
