Steeda Adjustable Cable Kit......

Ok, if you read my previous posts last week where I vented about my Tremec not shifting right, I got it fixed today, or so it appears. I bought the Steeda Adjustable Clutch kit, and had it installed. Now my question is for those who have one. The clutch doesn't grab until about 3 " from the top. I almost have to take my foot completely off the clutch before it grabs. With this kit, is there a way that I can adjust it so that it begins to grab just after it comes off the floor? This isn't exactly how I want my clutch to be. Feels like I am driving a truck with it like that! Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have the steeda adjustable cable kit and it took me quite sometime to get it right the first time.

Just keep messing with the adjuster (nut) at the firewall - until you get it right. If that doesnt help, then i would try to adjust from the bellhousing.

inspect the cable at sidemember.

Slider, would I turn the nut clockwise or counter-clockwise? The dealer that put it in for me kept the instructions, and I forgot to ask them for them. If I adjust this, will it only affect where the clutch engages from when you let up on it? Like I said, it used to engage just after I started to let up on the clutch, now I almost have to put my knee up to my chin to get the clutch to engage. Appreciate the help so far.

Anybody else have any ideas, or know how to get this thing set up right. I plan on doing it tomorrow since I actually have a weekend off.

Try turning it clockwise(like if you were tightening the nut)if the clutch disc needs to grip more against the flywheel. The less tension on the cable, the more pressure will be between the clutch disc and flywheel.

You need to make sure it's adjusted right or you are going to end up killing the clutch very soon. It has to be perfeclty settled.

Check the fluid
hydraulic:
(might work for mechanical)

Run the engine at normal idle speed with the transmission in neutral (clutch pedal up - engaged). Disengage the clutch (cluth down), wait nine seconds and **** the transmission into reverse. NO grinding noise should be heard. A grinding noise would most likely indicate a problem in the pressure plate or clutch disc. so keep adjusting if need to.

To check for complete clutch release, run the engine (parking brake applied)and hold the clutch pedal aproximately 1/2 inch from the floor. Shift the transmission between 1st gear and reverse several times. If the shift its not smooth, component failure is indicated somewhere or not adjusted right.

hope this gives you an idea. if more questions, email me netslide3@home.com
