Which Long Tubes to go with Force II cat-back?
 

Hey everyone...I was wondering which long tube headers do you suggest to go with the Force II Cat-back system?...

I have had my mac`s on for about 4 years and they still look like new. I`ve heard people having problems though. They sound real good. Not too loud with the top down either. I recently changed from the high flow cats to off road and it made a big diff. One thing I noticed was my engine bay seemed to get much hotter with those coated headers. Either way I`m sure youll have fun.

I was told it was because the htc coating dissapates heat.

How do you like your systemax II heads?

Its hard to say. I had the kit installed all at once. The total combo puts 302/307 HP/TQ to the rear wheels. The cam has a nice lopey idle and its very streetable.I have the smaller 1.90 heads not the 2.02 heads Rick91GT has.

I have the mac on mine, the fit is ok.

I've been running the BBK's for about a year now and havent had any real problems. Some AC and smog pump hoses were sitting too close and getting burnt so be carefull and strap them down away from the headers well.

I have the force II 3chambers and H pipe with hi flo cats, definitely unique sounding around here.

We installed MAC long-tubes on our 88GT, while we were at it - we installed carquest motor mounts. Noticed the drivers side header was rubbing against the steering linkage. Come to find out - the carquest mounts sat the block a little higher than oem causing the header tube to rise and rub against the linkage.

Went with the Energy Suspension mounts, which actually lowered the block slightly, and corrected the problem. If anyone is looking to run longtube headers beware of motor mounts. Even the stock oem ford mounts over time might cause lt headers to rub on firewall or against the steering linkage.

if you want a cheap knock off of the mac longtubes, go with the bbk. but if you want the best headers in the performance exhaust industry hands down, go with the mac longtubes. combine 30+ years experience making headers with quality hand craftsmanship and you got a damn nice set of headers that will LAST. pick up a pro chamber and a mac flowpath catback system too. the flowpath muffler out flows the dynomax and flowmaster by 49 cfm and doesnt have any packing to blow out.

I've installed and run both the MAC 1-5/8 headers and the BBKs. IMHO, hands down BBK. They are thicker gauge, thicker flanges, and fit like a glove. Never had a single issue with BBK. I've had problems with 2 sets of MAC longtubes.....with fitup mainly.

BTW, I currently run the BBKs with offroad and the Force II (3-chamber) system and it is music to my ears. Mufflers are truly sound quality devices on most street cars. And one would be hard-pressed to pick up a sound quality difference between longtube header manufacturers...
