Black particles in coolant?
Some say it may be deteoriating hoses....any ideas? also, im having to add a little coolant to my radiator every week or so, but been running the heater alot, i have good head gaskets, dont see any leaks, radiator is fairly new?

Yeah. Ground black pepper. The main coagulating ingredient in radiator stop leak.
It's not the hoses, or at least I pray it's not, lol. If it's a black liquid, it's oil. |
I have noticed a few black floaties underneath my radiator cap as well. Nothing major, I never noticed a problem in 2 years since I put my motor together.

Could be random paint flakes from the new radiator. Adding coolant isn't abnormal if it's only a bit at a time. Keep a sharp eye for leaks, though, just in case. Water pump vents are a common place, hoses of course and the dreaded head gasket leak with the antifreeze in the oil are all places to check regularly if you're suspicious. If the heater core is leaking, you'll know it by the smell and the wetness on the floor. |
Thnx guys, i feel better, i have noticed a minimal amount of moisture on the floorboard, i suspect a core leak, not bad though, if it is oil in the coolant, why? im sure it may be from the new radiator, (paint) i hope, thnx though, nothing major.
now my friends 347 85 coupe, lost a head gasket wednsday, his oil went milky, and oil pressure dropped a little, he still ran 13.2@ 109, we knew something was wrong then, his average is 12.2 @ 114. |
