Edelbrock Heads - Finally Installed

Man what a job, but I think it was worth it. I spent a lot of time:

- Checking for P/V clearance (only 0.080 on the intake side...not great)
- Chasing the threads in the block with a 7/16" tap.
- Wire brushing the head bolts
- Bleeding
- Cleaning the block surface
- Setting up the adjustable valvetrain
- Setting up the Isky adjustable guide plates
- Bleeding some more
- Orienting the distributor
- Vacuuming, blowing off parts with air, degreasing with brake kleen

As expected, the engine is a little louder at idle, and a lot louder at WOT.

The check engine light stays on now...I checked all the connections to the sensors which is usually the cause. I guess I'll have to do a code scan.

Also, the engine warms up much faster. I hope it doesn't cause issues in the summer.

Overall, I'm satisfied. Guess it's time to change my sig!

cool, good choice in heads, the quality is very apparent on the edel. heads.

You might want to get an aluminum radiater. The aluminum heads transfer heat faster to the cooling system, and you need a rad. that can keep up, disapate heat as fast as the heads, needs to be aluminum also.

Are these the Performer heads or RPM heads? When are you going to chassis dyno it to see how much rwhp it's making now?

They are the Performer 6025s, modified for use with screw-in studs/guideplates/loc-wire gaskets. I could have bought the RPMs, but I paid 500 for the Performers used, and set them up with the good stuff.

Existing clutch is slipping badly...can't tune the car since it slips under boost. Had to decline a race with an SS last night. The new Tremec and clutch arrived recently, so I'm putting that in before I get it dynoed.

When are you putting in the Tremec?

I'm calling the owner of Xtreme Mustang Performance tomorrow to get on the schedule asap.

Had to dig this one out of the archives

...because I couldn't remember the piston/valve clearance on my intake valve...I forgot what it was, but I remember posting it here...

The clearance is even crappier than I thought it was. I'm going from the E303 to a Comp Cams XE270HR. I guess I'll have to check p/v clearance on the new cam...it's gonna be tight!
