Windsor Senior Head potential

I have these heads but have heard bad and good things about them...

However i saw in the excessive motrosports add that they offer all these stages of porting for them(They were listed with the canfields and other race heads)

Are these a good potential race head?

I hear the springs really are pretty much junk as well...

If i was to basically jsut replace the heads and port them WOudl they be a good head for 6500 RPM peak power?

What do yu think these ehads woudl do wiht a TFS stage oen cam and holley intake?

Windsor Srs have plenty of potential. My friend Jeff has a ported set on a pretty much a stock bottom end 351. It has Keith Black pistons with a cam from summit, victor jr intake, holley carb, 1-3/4" headers, 3" exhaust, 4.56 gear, with a C4. The car weighs 3010 lbs with him in it and runs 6.86 (1/8) on motor and 6.01 at 114 mph on 250 shot of nitrous. Now the heads haven't been hogged out, just cleaned up, so I think they have plenty of potential.

Yes their springs aren't known for being the best, I'd call Keith Craft and have them suggest some for your application.

On another note, don't do any bussiness with Excessive. It's pretty much known in the mustang community they are crooks.

Unless your putting these heads on a stroker or a 351, you'll loose to much torque. Stick with the jrs, unless your going to spray it with a big shot.

are you building a 351w or 302? if its a 351 ive got a great combo for low 11's with those heads. they are great heads. theyve been around long before any of these aluminum heads and make plenty of power. the problem is theyre misunderstood and aluminum is the craze these days not going fast. out the box with a little clean up and new springs they will flow more than you need.

306

for a 306 the jr's with a stage 1 porting would be your best bet. i would go to keith kraft for the heads myself. the sr's are a bit big in the ports and combustion chamber for a 306 and wouldnt give you the velocity you need. dont go by the flow #'s of the heads . a 306 will not consume that much air and will cause the motor to go slower. if you havent already bought the heads then go with the jr's. and change the springs since the ones that come from the factory are for a flat tappet cam not roller.
