roller lifters?

I have the top of my motor tore down to port my heads.

My engine has around 87,500 miles on it.

Should I replace my roller lifters while I'm in there?

As long as they aren't pitted(have any visable wear) you can reuse them.

if you were using a non-roller cam,with hydraulic flat tappet lifters,then I'd say no you shouldn't :D

They have been in and out a couple times already. Two cam changes, and they always appeared serviceble, so I kept re-using them.

Now that Im approaching 90K miles, I was just wondering if they start to get weak with use, or if they can last forever?

If they go bad with high miles, I would like to replace them now.

I dont think this is a concern, but I wanted to be sure.

Recommended replacement is at 100k miles. If you're at 90k, and don't want to have to do any digging anytime soon, replace them. If you're on an extremely tight budget (aren't we all), they could be reused. Me personally? I'd replace them, but that's me.

Take care,
-Chris

P.S. Chris- I've been sick as a dog all week, and have things going on this weekend, but I will try and get in touch with my ARP connection soon. Email me with what you were looking for.

after hose things start going bad you will need to replace them..one way to check to see if they are good is take a pushrod and try to push in..they shoud mov in about 1/16"+-..anymore and it seems real easy and they are bad..once they go bad you will not be able to get the to stop ticking..if you but adj RR then you can make them tighter but you will explode a lifter or bend a rod...id say replace them..and while your looking for new ones if you dont go with FMS then in your search see if you find any companies that have 7k+ capabilities
