Its been nice knowing you all
I'm not really leaving... Don't worry. I just told my Oldsmobile-list buddies that I'm thinking of putting a 302 ford in my 87 Olds Cutlass. I'm anticipating a long week of torture, flames, and general Hatred. :)

....i could ask you the question why you'd want to do that.....but instead i'll say that's pretty cool because it's something that i'd never think of doing. Good luck on your project.

I got one for ya guy's? Have you ever seen a Grand National motor transplanted into a Pontiac Fiero? IT ROCKS!
I also seen a 427 Chevy in the back of a Corvair, WILD! |
Why not?
I've seen Fieros with Northstar V8s. They say it takes no firewall or trunk modifications, just bolts in with specialty parts.
Why am I putting a Ford 302 in a Cutlass? Because I can. I have no brand loyalties, I just go with what fits my project objectives. This project happens to have objectives which include 1) Unique daily driver, 2) Inexpensive performance with easily found over-the-counter parts, and 3) Make people really scratch their heads. I'm even as sick as to go to great lengths to confuse the heck out of onlookers by grafting the top half of a GM HEI onto the top of a Ford distributor shaft. Am I sick or what? Curtis 66 Bonneville with a Caddy 500 85 El Camino that will get a Hemi if no one buys it 87 Cutlass, soon to be Ford Powered 92 Honda Shadow VLX (should it get a harley engine?) |
No, but I've seen an LS1 in a Fiero.

I have seen a twin turbo buick 401 i think in a corvair. i know it was a buick and it was a small block so it may have been smaller i cant remember. I have also seen a 392 HEMI in a VW bug :D:eek: :D That thing was sweet. The motor was in the front.

Go to this page..
http://www.wsu.edu/~426hemi/ Its a link to the "Caddywagen home page." A guy took the body off a VW bug, cut the pan off ahead of the engine, then welded the frame of a 70s FWD caddy to the back of the pan of the VW. He took the back out of the bug and made a cover, hooked up stuff and took off down the road. He has a bloody 500 caddy welded to the back of his BUG! Its crazy stuff. CaddyWagen homepage |
Honda with a 5.0L
This last summer I went to Woodburn Dragstrip and I saw an early 80's Civic with a hipo 302 in it.:D

RX7
I had a buddy that had a 82 Rx7 with a 454 and Nos and he drove it to work every day I took a ride with him ONLY ONE TIME!!!!!!!!

I once saw a Saab convertible with a blown 302/T-5 converted with an entire Mustang floorpan etc pretty sick.
As for your HEI conversion, I have seen that already done. DUI (Davis unified Ignition) sells various HEI topped distributors for a variety of engine makes, and they make one for a 302! |
