Trick Flow Cams?

I was looking at an older ad from Summit and noticed they carry Trick Flow Cams. I'm interested in the Stg. 1 cam .499/.510 and 281/286.. would that work well with AFR 165cc heads and a TFS Street intake? I wanna keep it emissions legal but want a little more than an E-cam..

I actually spoke with the tech line at TFS and decided to the same cam you are looking at. I have an '86 project car and ran this cam with the stock flat-tops, GT-40 iron heads and 1.6 roller rockers. I had no clearance problem and it passed the emissions test her in TN with no prob. As for performance, I had the E303 prior to this, and the Trick-flow puls much harder through the entire power band.

I was always concerned with the p/v clearance on the flat tops, that's why my rebuilt motor is an 89 block/pistons, that way I avoid any possible problems.
Do you have the cam specs on that cam (cam card or anything?) I'd like to see what the computer would dyno with that cam.
I appreciate the help so far!

The cam specification's for the TFS Stage 1 camshaft is:

@ .050"
Intake: 3 BTDC 38 ABDC
Exhaust: 49 BBDC (-4) BTDC
Duration: 221int./225exh.

Valve lift with 1.60 rocker: .499int./.510exh.
Advertised Duration: 275int./279exh.
LCA: 112
ICA: 107.5

I have the spec's for the other TFS cams, intake manifolds, and heads

Thanks for the info FoxBuilder.. Unfortunately it looks like (at least from the computer dyno) that the E-303 cam makes more power than the TFS Stg.1. OH well, guess I have to continue the hunt..

I run this cam in my 94 driver.
I am very happy with the performance at the rear wheels. I am running the Track Heat heads and intake which puts the power in abit higher in the RPM than your head/intake combo but I think you will be happy with the performance also. I will say that if smooth idle is your thing, this isn't the cam for you, it sounds alot rougher than the e-cam (choppier).

Currently I'm at

335 rwt @4000

if you are interested in some of the other mods, post a reply, or you can email.

hope this info helps your decision,

Sean
