Rear tire size

The rear tires on my '91 LX are 205/55/r15. It has a 4.10 rear pin. what would be a good size for street/strip that wont cost an arm or a leg?

I'm running 245-40-17's in the rear and my brother is running 245-50-16's back there. I know that 245's are the widest you can stuff in the front. I heard that 310's are the biggest you can put in the rear. I am going to go with the 275's next time I need tires. Try to keep the stock circumfrence of the tire. If you don't, then your speedometer will be off.

Seedo is already off with the 4.10 gears, so it dont matter

Tire sizes...

I run 255/60/15 tires on my Draglites. They are BFG T/A's from Summit. I paid $61 a piece for them. Great tire for the money.

I run 265\50\15's BFG T\A's out back on the notch with no problems. I had to have wheel spacers for the 275's but I am not dumping my exhaust either, if you dump and lose the quad shocks you can go 275 without spacers most likely. The GT has 245's out back that is not expensive to replace and fits perfect and is fair traction.

245's fit very easily (no mods).
255's require a little attention.
Drag radials can be done with even wider, but you gotta watch the side-to-side sliding of the axle around corners for everyday driving...
I run 275's on all four corners.

Will 245's fit on a lowered car? I was all about to get 245's then i read somewhere that 245's wont fit on a lowered '89 with quad shocks. I will be needing new tires fairly soon. My car is lowered 1.5" with BBK progressive springs. The car has 225/50/16 BFG Comp T/A's on now. I will probably get the same kind. I would love to have 245's! :D

Thanks,
Nick

Quick question. I ordered bfg Comp t/a drag radials. They're 255's, what will I need to do to make them fit perfect?

i have had 265/50/15 before they fit fine on my car.

Here is an old photo of 245-50-16's on 16x8" ROH wheels, lowered with Eibach 1.5" springs.
(boy, I had to dig to go that far back)

Cool. Your car looks to be the exact height as mine! 245's it is!
