Place of horn relay?
Hi ,I got trouble of horn.
Suddenly my horn continue to sounding. I think its relay trouble. But I dont know the place of horn relay. Please tell me the place of it. Thanking you. |
We had the same problem; relay wasn't the problem. It was
actually the horn switch on the steering wheel. Take off the horn cover and you'll see two copper plates with some foam sandwiching between. The foam insolates the two copper plates. When you push the horn it compresses the foam and two copper plates touch causing circuit to close and horn blows. In our case the foam was shot and I simply went down and bought some foam and cut small pieces up and used hot glue to put in place. Horn works great now! The horn relay is under the dash I believe if that doesn't work. |
thank you!!
Thanking you for your kindly reply mr 289!!
|
It could also be the horns themselves. Get a friend to hold the horn button down while you get underneath with a multimeter and see if you're getting any current through. If you are, then its the horn, if not then you need to check the source
hope this helps, -Drew |
The horn relay is located somewhere in the abyss of wires under your dash in the middle around where the center console meets the dash. Another way of checking if it is your horn button, is to remove the shrouds around your steering column and disconnect the plug that attatches to the slip ring behind your steering wheel. If you disconnect the plug and the horns keep blaring, then it's not the button. Good luck!

Hello and welcome
msisido:
Greetings from America and Mustang Works Online! Glad we were able to help with your horn problem. I'm an Anime fan and I wondered if you are familiar with the anime 'Initial D'. It's about teenage road racers. A friend obtained the series for me on VHS (via Hong Kong) as it isn't sold in the U.S. Just curious. ;) |
Thank you for your comment Mr 5.0:)
I also like initial-D anime!! That story is very interesting and the mountain whrere they driving (named akina mountain) is actually "haruna mountain" it's very near from my young grouing place(sorry for poor english) It's very famous driving road, Thank you. |
And Mr 5.0.
My younger sister had driven the AE86 car in haruna mountain like him, She owned the 3 AE86 car like him and often drove in there, (But she often crushed the car in mountain Ha ha....) I think AE86 car is in position like mustang in the america, AE86 car is very interesting for dirive and its not expensive for young people,So many young people like AE86 and dirive it in hard mountain road, But AE86 car is get old and tired , These days young road racers choose the nissan 240Sx not toyota AE86, |

Anime information
msisido:
Thank you for your information on the anime 'Initial D' . I knew the anime must have been based on real places and your information that it was the Haruna mountain area was interesting. I know the AE86 was popular in Japan, much like the Mustang is in the U.S. Initial D was also very interesting as it showed how daily life is in Japan for young people in school. I had to watch a subtitled version as I don't speak Japanese but I think it was a good translation. I noted all the cool cars they used including a 1983 Toyota Trueno, 1991 FD3S Mazda RX-7, 1991 S13 Nissan Silvia, a Nissan 180SX and a 1991 Toyota MR2. Very accurate 'car talk', too. Whoever wrote the script knew about cars, which is crucial on a anime about road racing. Takumi was a very interesting character with his aversion to racing that changed to a real desire to race - and win. I've also watched all 51 episodes of Hana Yori Dango which was a great anime, in my opinion. I liked the characters, especially Doumiyouji, Tsukasa and Hanazawa Rui. Wonderful classical music soundtrack, too. Thanks for your information, I appreciate it. Your English is pretty good. As I cannot speak or write more than a word or two of Japanese, I'm impressed with your command of English, which is not an easy langauge to learn. Much like Japanese! msisido, if you wish to communicate with me in the future, please use a PM or start a thread on the Blue Oval Lounge forum, as the Windsor Power forum is mainly for technical questions and answers and although I enjoy your posts about anime, I don't wish to misuse the forum. Thanks again. |
