New Best Times!!!

Well I ran down at US41 in Indiana on Saturday in the cold cloudy weather and got my best times yet. I was grinding in every gear, I think the clutch was never fully disengaging. I think the clutch might be toast, it's not engaging until the pedal is right at the top during normal driving and, like I said, was grinding bad every shift down the 1/4. Gonna pull the inspection cover and take a look where the fork is and probably pull the trans and bellhousing to look at the cluch and the clutch fork to see for sure this week. Anyway I ran 5 times before i gave it up as a lost cause and got my best run on D/R's the first trip down the track and my best run on the slicks the last trip.

Here's my best two:

with drag radials:

r/t .775 (blech)
60' 2.062
330' 5.600
1/8 8.514 @ 85.87mph
1000' 11.012
1/4 13.117 @ 107.42mph

with slicks:

r/t .502 (whoop)
60' 1.783
330' 5.335
1/8 8.269 @ 85.44mph
1000' 10.823
1/4 12.94 @ 107.17

I'm pretty happy overall and I think I've got a bit left with a good clutch and better shifting.

chris91LX 04-22-2002 11:52 PM

I have the stock shortblock w/ 76000miles, Edelbrock 6032's, tfs stage 1 cam, ported Cobra intake, Comp Cams 1.6 rr's, 76mm maf, 70mm tb, 24lb injectors, 190lph fp, kirban fpr, pullies, bbk long tubes and o/r h, dynomax super turbo cat back, Crane hi6s ignition, factory 5 lca's and 3:73 gears. I dynoed at 282hp and 315ftlbs tq before i put on the longtubes.

Coupe5oh 04-23-2002 12:28 AM

dang, with the longtubes you should be around 300 at the wheels, good street setup that im looking for, im dreaming for some 6037's and a trickflow cam.

with a little more compression, or aggresive driving you could show a zo6 the tailights:p

Hey, were you there during the rental or the evening test and tune?

I was there and also go my best time, actually very close to yours :), its in the sig

I didn't see your car there, did you see mine? Black coupe with a cobra spoiler and cobra R style hood?

fiveohpatrol 04-23-2002 12:31 AM

wait a minute, now that i saw the picture of your burnout I remember seeing your car there. I thought it was 2fastLX at first because it looks alot like his car, then I remembered that he sold it.

did you stick around to see that dumbass lady smash her flawless GT into BOTH walls?

explicitone 04-23-2002 02:45 AM

Hey chris whats up im happy to hear that your ride is running good If you dont remember I was trying to get people togather last year (former name terrible1 ) to have a track meet at great lakes or byron

chris91LX 04-23-2002 09:51 AM

Yeah I was there during the rental. I'm sure I saw your car at some point but i was hanging with a bunch of the guys from my club. That "dumbass lady" is a freind of mines girlfriend, from what I understand something locked up in the trans and locked up the rear wheels just past the traps. I didn't see it happen but I saw the results, I'm just glad everyone was ok.

Hey Tony, check out a local club I found www.midwestfords.org we're putting together track rentals and other stuff all the time. We also piggyback onto other peoples rentals like we did last Sat. with the indiana stangers.

fiveohpatrol 04-23-2002 11:34 AM

Sorry, didn't know that you knew her :(

I overheard a few people saying that she put it in reverse or it slipped into it somehow.

I was in the main building with your friend (the woman's boyfriend) when it happened, he was video taping it and at first it didnt even seem like he realized what happened. Then when it sunk in he ran out the door. Any word on if the car is totaled or not? the frame looked pretty bent

exgmguy 04-23-2002 04:56 PM

You should adjust the clutch cable. You can even do it with the stock plastic quadrant.

Nice runs too. With an aggressive launch and some powershifting you could be in the 12.20-12.30's.

chris91LX 04-23-2002 05:32 PM

Thanks exgmguy, I've got a firewall adjuster and Steeda quadrant and it's already adjusted all the way in, I think the clutch is worn out. I'll find out when I tear it down to take a look. I don't know how fast i can get it but the goal is a 12.3 by the end of the season, another guy in my club says i can't do what he did last year so i have to prove him wrong.:D

fiveohpatrol, I'm not sure exactly what happened with the reverse thing either. I guess it had happened once before, so I don't know if there was a problem with the trans popping out of gear or what. I think it was totaled but last i heard she wanted to rebuild it. I'd get a roller personally and just swap the drivetrain over, but she loved that car and didn't want another, I guess.
