yet another intake/cam/head combo question

i'm doing a 347 or 331 stroker with ARF 165 or 185 heads... first off, which head 165 or 185 (or even a different brand) would be best for a high horsepower, low budget combo?

Also, which intake/cam/rockers would work well with the stroker/afr combination?

Also, would longtubes be worth the trouble in this case?

I would do the 331 with the bigger AFR heads, smaller cam, TFS intake, and yes longtubes in 1-5/8".

I agree with everything drudis said except for the intake. I would run the Holley intake, it seems to work very well with the AFR's. I just don't think the trick flow intake (which I have) would flow enough air to support those 185's.

Long tubes are a MUST, use BBK 1 5/8's.

so what kind of cam would work well?

I assume you are going to keep the blower as well? If so I would go with a custom cam. Though I have heard mixed reports (though mostly good) I would recommend ed curtis for the custome cam he has done lots of work with AFR heads and tends to get some good results with them.

actually i'm having to ditch the blower in favor of the stroker/heads... I feel its a better way to make power. If I were to have to pick from the E, B, X, or Z cam, which would be best? Keep in mind I have an automatic convertible, so ridiculous torque at low RPM is a plus.

Put a F303 cam in it (if you want or must use a alphabet cam) and put a stall in it.

Edelbrock performer RPM intake and x cam. Youll be rockin! The holley intake might hurt you down low with the auto/convertible. The RPM is a good compromise
