BANG! why is neutral drop better?

My stock AOD is bad, when i drop it into gear at idle, it BANGS! into gear, if I rev it just a touch, say to 1000 r's and drop it in gear it goes in smoothly, what the heck is that?

hows your tranny mount and/or crossmember bushings. Also what about your u-joints.

gtsr515 05-11-2002 04:55 PM

They are fine, thought of that, but thank you very much for the quick reply.

Probably forces the tranny to slip a little when at higher RPMs which makes it seem smoother. What does it do when shifting into reverse?

gtsr515 05-12-2002 10:53 PM

Reverse is perfect.

Shut-up Lester! I gotch your good to go hangin' low! LOL:D

theres your problem right there:D

i'm no tranny expert so I couldn't tell you what the problem is exactly. But it sounds like its time for a strong rebuild or a Lentech,

good luck with it,

eagle1957, i could watch that for hours. Did you check your fluids? I really dont know much about auto trans, but maybe the extra rpm's build up some fluid pressure thats missing lower in the rpm? Idk, just throwing it out there for ideas.
