Roller Rocker Stagger

Anyone ever heard/done this and seen improvements? I have the 1.6 cranes with a custom grind cam pushing about 512 degrees lift on exhaust and intake now and am going to purchase the 1.7's but was told I would not clear the lift on both exhaust and intake so I was going to stagger for optimum lift. Thanks

I have used 1.6's on the intake and 1.7's on the exhaust, is this what you mean by stagger?

absolutely, did it show noticable gains?

That's an old-timer trick I haven't seen done on a small block Ford in years. The results were always good on carb'd engines, but I don't know about EFI engines. It makes more sense on an EFI engine, actually, because roller cams usually have the same lift for both int. and exh valves. Just make sure to check the clearance with clay first!

Take care,
-Chris

Thanks.

I've heard that trick is really only used and shows improvement when you aren't running a nice cam. You said that you have a custom ground cam, so I don't think it'll help you/hurt you any.

Mysweetlx, what is the JMS 3 stage you have in your sig? We have a very similar setup on our cars, care to swap ET's?:D

LOL. It's a flip switch that Chris Johnson over at Johnson Motorsports burned for me. It's got 4 dip switches w/ 3 settings, as far as the timing and a/f ratios......I got it because it's good too have if you've got a power adder so you can adust the proper fp, a/f ratios and lower your timing depending on the boost. (as you can see I don't have any power adder yet, not sure if i will stay n/a........I'll probably end up selling my chip.)
