Tremec TKO?
It finally broke! My stock t 5 went south and I need a new tranny.
I`m thinking of getting a tko. Does anybody have experience with them before I commit to buying one? I`m looking for any info, good or bad on them. Thanks in advance. Dave |
I'm in the same boat as you. I am set on getting one, I just need to buy the parts. Read this, it may help you out...

one of my good friends bought one and he likes it alot now. At first it was very notchy, but i heard this is common with tremec's at first. Also something he doesn't like is that the shifter doesn't sit in the middle of the console, it sits all the way on the right, (almost rubbing the console in 5th). Other than that everything is ok, oh and make sure you get the alignment tool from whoever you buy the trans from, no local parts stores sell them.

are you talking about the clutch alignment tool?
thanks, adam |
Yeah

if you are replacing the tranny, a new clutch would probably be a wise choice and you should get that alignment tool with the new clutch

Happended to me too. See link: http://www.dariusrudis.com/mustang/tko/ |
I was quoted at 2k installed. This included bellhousing, clutch, pro 5.0 shifter, new tko and labor out the door. Does that sound about right?
|
well seeing that the trans alone costs close to 1500, shifter close to 200, bellhousing close to 200, clutch ~200. it seems like 2000 is a great price... its like you are getting labor for free
i could be wrong though.... take care, adam |
