Lowering
 
I am looking to lower a 1998 Cobra and a 1994 Coupe. I know you can rent spring compressors at the auto store. How hard is it to lower a Mustang. I have lifted jeeps and trucks before. I know one is going up and one is going down but other than that is there alot of differecne? Any tips. Everyone wants way way too much money to do it. Thanks in advance.

lol, yeah they sell a tool but for the rears all you have to do is jack up the body of the car and let the rear end hang down and you can weasle them in there, as for the fronts, the only way i have seen it done is by disconnecting the strut and wrestling with it trying to raise the lower control arm with the spring on it. the tool that they sell is junk i have never gotten them to work, i would see how much they would want to do just the fronts, the rears are easy, i would pay to have it done.

The front springs are easiest to replace if take the bolts out where the control arm connects to the k-member and then pull out the old spring and put in the new. No spring compressor is needed. You use a floor jack to push the control arm back in place. The weight of the car compresses the spring. couldn't be easier.

that seems kinda hard when the springs hold most of the weight of the car, the car will raise up when trying to compress it.

Not really, when you do it this way your not really compressing the spring that much. You put the front end up on jack stands and let the front suspension hang down to the end of its travel. Put a floor jack under the control arm, take the bolts out and slowly let the floor jack down, take the spring out the back side, put the new spring in, raise the jack up to get the control arm in place, put the bolts back in and your done. I have done it both ways and this is much easier.
