Fcam blues

I got her to run pretty darn good, only minimal if any hesitation at low RPM WOT. I ordered a set of FMS 3.73's, and are sitting in my basement. How much should these gears help with low RPM torque?? Right now at low RPM's in second it just barely turns over my 225 50's, the same as before the head/cam/intake swap. Thanks

The gears should help bring the profile of the cam out, it should make a big difference.

For the time being, I'd suggest bringing the initial timing to 14 degrees minimum (if it isn't already there). That should help restore some lost low end. It also sounds like the engine may need more fuel. You could crank the fpr up 1-2 psi and see if it helps. Good luck.

Get your timing up to at least 14 degrees. I'm running the F cam with Edelbrock heads and intake. It doesn't like being driven below 1,500rpm, so avoid that. 3.73s or 4.10s would definitely help that low end.

The cam is made for mid range and top end though so be prepared for a huge increase over 2,500rpm and with the gears you'll start to enjoy yourself.

I am facing the same dilema after the F cam install. She really falls on her face in the lower rpm band. But I believe as everyone else here does that gears are gonna make a world of difference. So how do you like your F cam? I love mine.

People the F-303 is very good cam. I ran that cam for about 4 years and have gone as quick as 11.09@127.5 MPH. That combo would run 11.20's all day long and then we would take the long way home just to cruise and enjoy the other would be racers and street killers; That stay away from the track. That cam is great.........
