cold air wrapped

2 years ago I got the BBK fender cai and it was great when it was cool out but when the temp climbed above 75 then the car seemed to lag and every time you opened the hood the thing would burn you if you touched while doing something. so this year I thought I would try something I pick up some heat wrap and wrapped the darn thing its not pretty but it helped a lot now even when its 90 out like today the car still hauls a@* no lag not even a notice in power less from the thick hot air
just thought I would share the info cause I have never heard or seen anyone do it before.

I've never thought of those chrome CAI's to be cold air induction's anyway. As soon as the headers start radiating heat (which doesnt take very long at alll :) ) the chrome intake tube soaks up alot of it and gets very hot.
So I've always thought of them as HOT air induction.

The wrap sounds like a very good idea, who cares if it doesnt look good, as long as your making more power :)

Did you use header wrap or what? I'd like to give this a try on a friend's car.

I used header wrap and cut it and clamp it with the boot clamps on the cai that why I could remove parts of it without having to unwrap the whole thing which would get to be a pain in the *****

I have the C&L unit with a 9'' filter. Will making a cold air box or shielding the filter help with power at all? or just be restrictive?

yes it will having the filter open under the hoodfor one the air under hood is HOT!! and the air coming from the fan causes turbu. whichs hurts as well it will help some to make something keep the air going into the motor as cool as you can..
