302 questions
First off....hello everybody. This is my first of im sure many posts! Its about time to drop a 302 and an auto in my 54 coupe. For now its gonna stay a stock 302 till i finish my Biscayne project. After the Bisc. is done I will get all crazy on the Ford. I would like to pick up a 302 and an auto tranny for my project. is there any in particular year that is better than any other?? Also could i get one with an overdrive tranny?? And lastly, i have the room to play with...what would be the best size and type exhast? x-pipe, h-pipe and of course size? I would also like a pretty healthy sound, not too loud but definatly enough to make it known that im here! Thanks in advance!!!

Theres a big issue here, and thats money. How much are you looking to spend? I hope its alot:)
If it were me, I would find a wrecked mustang 5.0L with low miles and swap the whole motor/tranny/ wiring/ fuel system into your car. I always love seeing old cars like that with a fuel injected 302 in it:) |
for now i just wanna keep it a simple driver until my 59 is finished. as quick and easy as possible. but for an example my 59 is getting a 500hp / 500ftlb 383. completely forged bottom end. hilborn stack injection converted to EFI, t56 tranny, 4 wheel disc etc. so later on this little ford will be pretty tricked out and get a similar treatment. but until this 59 is finished in a couple of years i just wanna nice little 302 to cruise the streets in. of course the 54 will be wearing flat black with red wheels with dog dishes....you get the point. thanks
