Rebuild engine?

1 Attachment(s)
In 1997 Ford replaced my 5.0 in my 83 GLX with a remanufactured engine due to a oil pump failure on the highway. I only put about 2000 miles on this engine before a accident on the front end put me out of action. Over the last year I have been restoring the car at a very slow pace and right now I have the block pulled and was wondering on how to proceed with the engine. Since there is low miles on this remanufactured engine do I just pull it apart and clean it up.
What would you guys replace? Remember it's been sitting idle in the garage for many years. The rest of the car is in excellent condition!

If the engine ran fine before the accident, and there isn't any obvious damage to it, I would just drop it in and fire it up. Why take it apart? I don't have an Uncle that works at Fel-Pro, so I can't really see a reason why I would. Besides, if there is a problem, then you will know, but if you waste the money tearing it down now, and find there was nothing wrong, then you have wasted time and money.

just drop it in and try it!!

Take care,
-Chris
