Calling All A.f.m. -p.m.s Users

I JUST GOT THE AFM PMS (PROGRAMMABLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM) AND NOW I HAVE THE TASK OF PROGRAMMING IT. I FAXED IN THE START UP SHEET BUT ALL THEY SENT ME BACK WAS THE TIMING FOR PART THROTTLE, FULL THROTTLE AND N2O. I AM GOING TO NEED TO MESS WITH THE FUEL, AND THE IDLE. IF ANYONE HAS THIS LET ME KNOW.

The Idle tables, fuel tables and timing tables are going to be specific for your combo and your car. Total timing is pretty predictable, and you can somewhat tune WOT fuel by watching the O2 voltage. Changing idle fuel, timing, and IAC can be done sitting in the driveway, but I dont recommend it. Changing part throttle settings for high, low, and medium loads are best left to the street. Your overall best bet is to get that thing to a dyno with a wide-band O2.

Hope this helps.

got the idle and everything tuned in ok, still runs a little rich at wot, so im gonna have to lean it up a little, taking her to afm in two weeks to let them tune it on the dyno, thanks

Are you putting any extra fuel in to WOT? Where is your timing set at? What fuel pressure are you running?

Just curious.

fuel pressure is at 33-36 with the vaccum line attached, my timing at the dist. is 10-11*, when i floor it i look at the moniter on the pms and for the o2's its reading about 94-96, thats way too rich. for the wot program i have it +12 at 2200- +10 at 4000- +8 at 6000, and the fuel i am still figuring whats wrong.

This is your timing, correct?

It has been awhile since I have used the PMS so I dont remember everything about it. Are you running in Stand Alone? If not, is it possible that you have the computer advancing timing as well as the PMS?

Again, its hard for me to remember exactly what they do, and dont do.

i think thats my mistake i have the stand alone off, and yes that is my timing, so both of them are advancing them.

You better ask Rick just to make sure. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more confused I get.. hehehhe...... I just cant remember if the pms takes over complete timing control regardless of the position of the stand alone switch. Its something to look in to though.
