Why does my clutch pedal have "slack" in it
When really get on the gas through a couple gears, I notice that my clutch has "slack" in it. It will spring back the whole way from the floor but I can press it about halfway down before I get any resistence. It gives it a completely different feel and makes it very hard to engage the gears. Is my clutch going bad? I don't know what's going on. This is my first manual car so I don't know anything about clutches, adjustable quadrants, etc. And I don't know how to analyze any problems.
It doesn't happen under normal driving...just when I'm really running the car. So can someone help me with what this is? Is it my clutch or something else? |

My clutch was doing the same thing before i swapped out the t-5 and replaced the clutch. Since the clutch has been replaced, the slack has gone away. Mine would be fine some times and others it would release and engage about 2 inches from the floor instead of the normal 5 or 6 inches from the floor as it does now. I'm gonna go ahead and say that your gonna need a new clutch sometime soon.

A new clutch is a must. If you can swing, it get the alum. quadrant and fire wall adjuster.

i have the d&d quadrant, it really helped out, but for some reason i still have slop in my pedal, and find myself adjusting the firewal nut every other day?
it was 100$ for all of it (adjstr and cable), i really recomend it, or the steeda, my clutch releases kind of close to the floor, but i replaced the clutch at the time of my t-5 install, which was about a year ago, but sticky tires have taken a toll i guess, i have to keep the firewall nut backed out all the way to get a good pedal height, i sure hate the 'sittin in traffic trying to wrestle it in gear' later.... |
