Help! Strut Tower Brace - Will it fit w/this intake?

Car: '88 GT with GT40 intake and 1" upper-to-lower spacer, Cobra "R" hood

I've been in the market for a strut tower brace. I have a strong feeling that most (all?) braces will not clear my intake with the spacer (specifically where it bolts to the cowl).

Has anyone installed a strut tower brace with this combo?

Thanks to all!

The Maximum Motorsports STB is the best (supposedly) and it will fit any intake. I would recommend that one.

Joe5.0:

I looked at the MM strut tower brace. It seems that the connection to the firewall on either side will interfere with the AC and the brake boosters. Do you know if this brace will fit w/o any modifications? Do you know anyone who has installed this?

Thanks for the suggestion. I shall call MM as well.

Anyone else? Will BBK fit? Steeda?

daveGT,
I have the MM strut tower brace and it does clear just about all intakes. Your GT40 will clear without a problem. The only mod you will need to do is to unbolt the vacuum tree that is near the brake booster and just zip tie it on to the strut tower brace and you might have to slightly bend the mass air meter bracket. That is it.

P.S. I love the brace and it makes working on your car very easy compared to other braces.

Thanks for the info. How does the brace attach to the firewall? Bolts? How do you get access to the nut end of the bolt?

Thanks!

Yes it does attach to the firewall by bolts. If you look on your firewall almost directly below where your vacuum tree is you will see an eyelet that sticks out. That is where it bolts on to. You have easy access to the nut and bolt side when putting it together.
