Sway bar or no sway bar?
I've been considering removing my front sway bar to improve my 60' times and reduce weight. My concern is that driveability on the street will prevent me from being able to accelerate down freeway ramps and into turns. I guess my question is for those who have removed their sway bars how much will the driveability suffer. I live in the Chicago area so there's not much corner carving going on anyway and I'd really like to cut some 1.6 60' times.

Why not just upgrade to an aftermarket front sway bar? They are lighter and improve handling on the street as well.....it's a nice compromise :D

Over 120 mph, if you have no sway bar and a
soft suspension it could be a real problem. Air goes under the car and it becomes dangerous. My 60 feet times are better without the sway bar (0.05 sec faster) and the car is not that bad in the curves at a reasonable speed. SC |
I might just have to pull it off and see for myself. I am a little nervous about the high speed thing as I should be approaching 115-120mph in the 1/4 if I ever get this nitrous figured out. How much does an aftermarket sway bar weigh compared to the factory one? How about price? That might be the best compromise, anybody done this switch?

You can just remove the endlinks when you are at the strip to help with your 60 ft times. Then hook them back up for the rest of the time.
