is the pcv valve my prob. with to much crank case preesure?

hey guys, oil is comming up to the top of the dipstick tube. My dad told me that I have way to much crank case pressure, and his friend is a mechanic and told him that it could be the screen under the pcv valve. Should I get a new pcv valve and a new screen. If so do I just tell the guy at the counter for a pcv valve screen? Is it all hard to change?
thanks for your time

Sounds like you have a bit of my problem. Since the PCV is a maintenance item. I would just replace it anyway.

On the 94/95 GT's its at the back of the intake manifold, I'm sure the older 5.0L's are very similar.

yes it is right in back of the intake manifold. I am going to pick one up tomarrow. I hope this solves the problem.

Dude, get the PCV and screen from Ford!! The aftermarket PCV valves don't fit right and can cause a big leak. I imagine your screen is plugged up, and that is what is causing the excessive crankcase pressure.

I am having the same exact problem. When I get into high rpm's the oil spits out of the dipstick. I put a new pcv valve on but doesnt help. I took the wire mesh screen out to inspect and it looked pretty dirty. I soaked it over night in some degreaser and when I checked the next day it was totally saturated in what looked like hardened cooking oil. I had to order a new screen which is around $7 from ford. Hopefully this works

while your at it you might as well change the rubber gasket that the pvc sits in, mine fell out and went to sit next to the 1/2 socket that i never found.

I installed an air breather on the valve cover (replacing the oil cap) and it took care of my problem.

try a new pvc valve and screen but it sounds like blowby
