Let's talk mufflers
This is a question for everyone. Does anyone have Bassini mufflers on there car? I almost never read about anyone running Bassini's. I've got a set on my 93' LX and they sound great and have really improved the performance of the car. They are expensive, but if you can afford them, I think there well worth the price. Just curious to know how many others have them and their comments.

I am running the Edelbrock RPM stainless steel muffler. It has 2.5 inch inlets and outlets, and the inner tube splits into two pipes that recombine at the outlet. They have perforations and the inside is stuffed with ceramic wool.
These are LOUD to me, but my 19 year old loves them. When we are just idling you know the car is HOT. When we get on it, the car sounds like a NASCAR engine. SUCH FUN. How would you describe your Bassanti's? |
There is a really good article on mufflers in nov.2002 issue of 5.0 Mustang & super fords. The Bassani Quiet Thunder is 11 lbs. , ildes at 83 decibals, and WOT at 120 decibels. The Real Street muffler, in this test on the dyno, produced 1.7 more hp at the rear wheels than the quiet thunder and about 1 ib-ft. torque. The real Street idles at 84 decibels and WOT at over 120 (doesnt give and exact number). So the Real Street is gonna be a little better Peformance wise, but louder than the Bassani Quiet Thunder muffler.

I 'm not running Bassani quiet thunder mufflers. The mufflers were bought from Todd Bodine's shop. The performance shop that installed the pipes and mufflers is, or was, a good friend of Bodine's shop foreman. The muffs installed are quite loud.
