Autometer Water Temp Install
I have the gauge installed(mechanical), but the cable/wire that goes from the sender to the gauge is way too long. Is this just copper wire that could be cut and soldered back together at a shorter length. Please do not answer unless you know for sure. These gauges are not cheap. Thanks.

Why don't you run the probe right to the water neck - it is the perfect length. There is a small indentation in the top of the neck that can be drilled out and tapped for the new probe. It gives a perfect indication of the thermostat function. Just my $.02.

I'm doing the same install of that gauge this afternoon and was told that there is a hole the same size as the one for the factory gauge, but instead of being in the front of the lower intake like the factory one, it is near the back on the driver's side. This would be perfect for me because I don't want to lose the factory gauge. The question I'm asking is that is this info correct? I already have the smaller adapter. Thanks.

I just used the stock location with an adaptor to make it 3/8"

DON'T CUT THE TUBE! Just coil it up under the dash or somewhere out of the way. Make sure you don't kink it though!
I kind of did the same with the temp sensor for my fan, you can see it in the pic. http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/...dia.cgi?2529+3 |
Thanks.
All went well... I didn't cut the wire and I got all of it hidden. Very clean installation.
