Aliminum driveshaft
 

What exactly are the advantages of an aluminum driveshaft? I read a post that said it only helps you in the top end, but what exactly does it do for you? I was thinking about asking for one for christmas. Thanks

You might try using the search function... this was a topic a few weeks ago that went on for awhile. ;)

You are going to get different opinions on the benefits/advantages of using an aluminum d/s over the stocker...

Basically, whenever you remove weight from a rotating assembly, it will rev quicker since you loose some of the parasitic drag associated with heavier components... the end result is a few extra hp at the wheels, in short.

Also, I've read where so-and-so had a driveline vibration... swapped in a new aluminum shaft, and the vibe went away. Never experience this phenomenon first hand, but it sounds good.

Hopefully someone will be able to shed more light on the subject

well i experienced it first hand from going to 3.08's to 3.55's with my stock driveshaft. got the aluminum one and it went away. the aluminum one's rotating mass is less so less vibration.

yep that pretty much sums it up, might fix a vibration, might not, but guaranteed to lose a little weight from the driveline, which is always welcomed in performance, hinestly i wish i went with subframe connectors first, but the d/s was one of my first mods. later...
