Tranny Emergency
Got little bros new aod in tonight... how much fluid do we put in it. He doesnt have a fluid cap. manual and I dont know. Hes got to drive it to school monday so we REALLY need to know.
Thanks alot Bradley |
Fill the fluid, motor off, until the dipstick reads full. Then start the motor and keep checking the fluid until you get it topped off correctly according to the stick. Run the car through all the gears several times to be sure that you've filled the valve body. The overall amount will differ depending on the size of the converter that he's got installed. Don't overfill it with the trans cold; AODs don't like this.

Thanks Jeff. I think we got it finished up this morning. We ended up having to have 10qts' in it after it warmed up. This ound ok? I sent two more qts with him and told him to stop and check it a time or two on his way to class this morning ( its 30 miles each way so if he stops once he should be ok I think ) I do know its shifting alot better than the junk aod he did have in there so I guess overall the swap was a success.

Sounds about right for an 11" converter.

Thansk Jeff, I think it has the stock convertor in it. I know its a new and not original convertor but to my knowledge it is a stock replacement.

Iam beginging to feel its NOT a stock converter...will NOT put ANY power to the ground till1500rpm....maybe a stall? maybe junk? I do know at idle...it sounds like the 'verter is hititng the bell housing or something..kinda a clunky whining noise everytime it turns over
