Finally I bought an h-pipe
I bought an h-pipe over the internet through Sacramento Mustang for $119. Iam wondering how it will sound and how much HP I will gain. All the info you can give me would be awesome.

May sound a little louder more noisy if you already have flowmasters in there already. Maybe 5-10 hp on the top end while racing. Usually good for 1-2 tenths of a second.

Oh ya I forgot to say that I have the stock headers and mufflers still. Will I still see any HP gains. Will it sound a little better even though the mufflers are stock.

I had an h-pipe before I put my hollow cats back on. I loved the h-pipe, but for other reasons I had to put the cats back on. What I noticed from the h-pipe was a shift in the power band from 2-3k to 3-4k. Seemed like torque was being robbed from 1-2k band and given to 3-4k. But racing is mostly in the high RPMs anyway so its ok. Just get some shorty headers to team it up!

I would suggest getting some flows instead of the stock sh*t. With the h-pipe, the make an unbelievably mean sound!! With the exaust I have, theres people who think my car is sick fast, when really its mostly stock.

I don't know about 2 tenths off your 1/4 mile time just with an off-road h-pipe, that seems a little dreamy to me. But I have the BBK off-road h-pipe and with flows it sounds realy good.

up here where smog rules dont exist, there is hardly a cat left on a mustang and beleive me its for 2 main reasons, noticable power difference and sound man, lots of sound. that noise coming out of your car now will all be gone and replace with rrrrr.

I have driven a 93 with full exhaust mods and that is it. It did sound awesome, so that is all I have to go by. Out here in Oregon it is over ran by imports. They always look at me at stop lights but will not race. We have Woodburn Drag Strip and that is were all of the Mustang guys go. All of the v8 cars go to the strip and stay away from the street. Street racing is realy big in Portland and Vancover. Look at nwstreetracing.com and you can tell who rules the streets here. That is why I am tring to build the stang. I want the impoorts to be on there toes when they see me.

for the sound.. can't beat H-pipe and Flows.
I still have the stock headers on.. I have a cold air intake, advanced Timming, and the exhaust.. what do you think the HP / Sound would be like with headers? worth it? |
Hey can I have your old H pipe when u r done with it? I want to convert my 87 Lincoln Continental to dual exhaust for an easy 15 or so horses since I have the sucky 150 horse 5.0.....squeaky81@aol.com if you want to and if not no sweat

Ohhh it'll sound sweet!! When we had emissions testing here, I'd have to put the stock cats on once a year to pass, and I couldn't wait to get them off again!!! It really makes a diffrence!!!
