Throttle Bodies, which one?

Hi all, I was looking to get a 70mm throttle body for my 95 mustang gt, can you list what you have and how good it's worked out for you? Any and all input is appreciated! Thanks in advance! :D

I realize their is another thread similar to this but it doesn't specifically say which are alternatives there are for TB's.

Accufab, in my opinion, is the only way to go...

RPM427 01-10-2003 09:05 PM

yes, I agree. Accufab is the only TB I've tried that doesn't wistle or make wierd noises, and its the best looking TB on the market as well.

Whistle or make weird noises? You mean like when you step on it you will hear the throttle body sucking all the air in?

I have had a FMS 65mm for years, no problems. For you to need a 70mm, you must have one hell of a motor. My best friend runs 12.0s @ 113 with a STOCK TB. If you have the money, they just marketed a TB with interchangable inserts 60, 65, 70, and no insert would be 75mm. Like this you can grow into the larger sizes.

88workcar,

Right now with the set up I have the engine shop said I would be running around 370hp. While it might seem like a large throttle body for that amount of horse power I want to leave myself enough head room to put on a supercharger or turbo in the future.

I was origionally going to go with a Edelbrock 70mm TB but found out today that edelbrock is discontinuing their line of TB's for mustangs.

Thanks for the replies all, keep up the great info! :D

One more thing, if my throttle body is to big, will it cause me any negative side effects?

Dark_5.0 01-11-2003 11:42 AM

IMO 70mm isnt to big for your combo. But FMS makes the best throttle bodies for stangs.

Good Deal, you should be fine. Go with FMS

That I know, accufab doesn't make a throttle body yet for the 94-95 cars.
Please tell me a little more about this throttle body with interchangable spacers?

Ok, Accufab does not make a TB for the 94/95 cars YET. They have ONE unit they have made that is out in real world production, but no ETA on when the production run will be. They have been working on this for 3 years now so don't hold your breathe. This information is from Accufab when I talked to them on the phone last week.

Also, Edlebrock = BBK. They are the exact same throttle body and most of the time they will have both names on the TB when you look at it. As an aside, after my little problems with my BBK TB I would not recommend them.

At this point I'm still trying to find a decent TB for my 94, but it's not looking too good :(
