Hurst or Pro 5.0???
Ok I'm in a dilemma. I'm in the market for a new shifter. I'd like to get the Hurst with the chrome shift handle and the white shift knob, mainly because I want that look for my interior, but I want the Pro 5.0 because it is such a good shifter and a good feature that helps you catch 3rd everytime. Any one have experience with the Hurst? I'm pretty confident with the stock shifter as far as not missing third because If the way I hold the shifter, but I still want the added insurance in my head that the Pro 5.0 shifter would give me? What do you guys think????

I'm a big fan of the Pro-5.0 and Steeda Tri-Ax. I think the Tri-Ax is slighty more daily driver friendly because of it's gooseneck handle. Either shifter will please you though. You can put any handle on either of them too. ~Brian

I have the Hurst Chrome stick shifter in my 93 GT and I really like it. I don't run the car too hard but when I do I haven't missed third gear. The main reason I bought that shifter though was the look. I thought it went well with the interior of the car. I ordered the black ball knob for the shifter instead of the white (black interior).

A friend of mine had a Hurst Billet shifter, and he was always missing gears in it. I have a Pro 5.0 with a Tri-Ax handle, and I can easily miss 3rd. For some reason, when I push up to go into 3rd, it will catch on something. Like it is jamming in between 1st and 3rd. I don't know if the Tri-Ax handle has anything to do with it. The only thing I can do to help it is to just RAM the handle into 3rd.

I've had three different shift kits. The first one was the hurst compitition plus with the black handle on my 90 GT excellent short throw and crisp clicks into third. Then I had the Hurst billet plus didn't like it much it seemed more street orientated longer throws. I just got a Pro 5.0 for my TKO and love it, it is the nicest yet. Very short throws and "snaps" into each gear excellent. I would like to shift a Tri-Ax to compare cuz I've heard their real good to.

i had a really old hurst for the t-5.....sucked
got a new hurst for the tremec.....horrible, i would miss gears all the time. the shifter felt really sloppy PRO 5.0 IS WHAT IM USING NOW, I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING BUT A PRO 5.0. "the best in my opinion" |
I have a Pro 5.0 on my TKO... love it :D

I think this horse is beyond dead from all the beatings it's taken...
That being said, I have a Pro 5.0 and love it. Very short throws. |
I think I'll take the Pro 5.0, thanks guys.

i have the Hurst/FRPP one in my car. nice crisp clean shifts everytime. No probs with mine! Plus i like the look of the handle comparted to the PRO 5.0. Not saying the PRO is bad, but i like the hurst do to its looks and the many "old style" shift knobs you can get for it.

I have the Hurst short throw shifter with the long chrome handle and I miss 3rd gear ocasionally.
Do you floks know if my Chrome Hurst shifter handle will bolt on to the pro 50 shifter????? Chuck 88GT |
I went from hurst short throw, to b&m ripper with mac knob, i love the ripper, and will never use anything else, except maybe a triax one day.

The Hurst handle will bolt up to a Pro 5.0. I was deciding between a Hurst and a Tri-Ax handle, and went with the Tri-Ax because it was so frikin' tall.
