5.6 in a stang?
Why does ford put the 4.6 in the gt instead of putting the 5.6 (or is it 5.4) that comes in the F-150? Will the triton motor fit in a Fox body stang? Anyone tried?

It's a 5.4L. Ford doesn't make a 5.6L to my knowledge... I'm not sure if the motor mounts will line up

4.6L? 4.6? I don't need no stinkin' 4.6L! I got a 5.4L in my Mustang! :D :D
Seriosly, the 4.6 SOHC in the GT makes 260 HP and propels the GT to high 13 to low 14 second quarter mile times. And the 4.6 DOHC motor makes ~320 (01 Cobra), while the new '03 Cobra is making 390 (very conservative number). So, basically, Ford doesn't see a 'need' to up the displacement to 5.4. I, on the otherhand, love 5.4's! :D :D :D E |
One shop put a 5.4 out of a lincoln navagitor into a new body stang. It pretty much just roosted the tires. It would be way too expensive to do that. staying with the 4.6 is cheaper and less taxes because it uses less gas. So no gas guzzle tax.

i am almost positive a 5.4 uses the same exact block as the 4.6. the 5.4 is a stroked version of the 4.6, so it will bolt right up.

i've seen a 5.4 in a sn95 body, Al papito dumped a stock navigator 4v 5.4 in his cobra..bored it 0.020 over..some pretty wicked stuff, save for the 3,000 dollar custom lower plenum he had to fabricate. runs a t-56 with a 4:30 rear set up but 2,400 rpm at 80 mph ain't bad Imo. check the whole deal in the june issue of 5.0 mustangs.

I just bought an F150 with a 5.4. Man this motor rocks. I believe it is same block as 4.6 also. I raced my buddies F150 with the 4.6 and just totally smoked him. Feels like quite a bit more torque.
