e brake guidance

All,
My ebrake is not working and occasionally, the handle goes straight up with no "grab". I pulled the center console apart looking for the adjuster (as specified in Chiltons). There was no adjuster!? I know the next step is to adjust the rear brakes and look at the pad wear, but what is the life expectancy of the cable? How difficult is it to change the cable?

the newer foxes have a self adjusting contraption in the cosole at the base of the handle ........not much you can do to adjust them .......if the spring breakes where the handle latch catches the self adjuster section or the self adjustment dohickys latch wears out it could cause the handle to not grab the thingy that holds the cable .....(make shift terminoligy ...don't know what there called).............be easyier to replace with junkyard part or find replacement self adjuster somewhere

sounds like the self adjuster is your problem ,but the cables do wear out ,had to change the little 1 foot section of cable in mine that runs from the self adjuster to the t bracet above the transmission.......as for your rear breakes as long as the adjustment thing in the drumbs for the normal rear breakes is working it shouldn't effect your e- break much
