what gas mileage should my car be getting?

i have been driving my 90 lx that i just bought (see mods below) and it seems like it is sucking the gas down a lot quicker than my 89 lx. Any idea how many miles/gallon or tank i should be getting with these mods? I am about half way down and have gone only 60 miles!!!!!! hopefully it is the type that it drops quick to half and then takes a while the last half! PLEASE let me be right. anyone know what i shiould be getting?

This has been city driving- stop n go. Thanks!

ALSO, I dont think I have even gone that far (60 miles) becasue my speedo is off which would inturn make the odomoter roll faster than it is really going WTF!

You realy can't go by how far the needle moves. some cars it moves quicker the first half of gauage and second half is is like it's sleeping. only true way to measure mileage is to start with full tank drive around town for a few day and fill back up and divide into the miles driven. i had same thing just happen to me. i filled up and driving to nmra in bradenton i could almost watch the gas needle moving but when i stopped to fill up it only took 6 gallons to go 140 miles which worked out to 23 mpg.

hey guy,
listen...if i'm right, you only drive the car 6 months out of the year.
i would just drive it and race....based on your numbers you can beat just about any car out on the street...HAVE FUN for cryin out loud!!!!!!

I have owned several fords and they all did the same thing. When filling the needle goes way passed full then after a long while the needle finally moves to F then bang 1/2 then in a reasonable amount of time it hits 1/4 tank. like you heard before do not go by the guage fill er up and check your miles per gallon the accurate way. Remeber if you race, smoke the tires, launch hard at lights, (you know use the car the way Ford intended), idle a lot your #s will be incorrect. Good luck

your odometer has to be working properly to calculate the correct mileage....but it shouldn't concern you so much---just have fun like sd228 said!:D

gas mileage

Well the '90 LX that you bought has a ton more modifications done to it than the '89 you had. That would be why you are getting worse gas mileage.

true true! i got 13 mpg last tank, thats with letting it run when i wsnt driving it and city driving. this tank i should do SLIGHTLY better. i just thought that people with mods similar to mine brag how they continue to get 17 mpg, but i guess those days are gone! oh well, well worth the power!

Yeah, I have a similar combo as you (Edelbrock heads/intake/cam) and I get 12-15mpg depending on how "heavy" my foot is feeling. :D

gas milage i'm happy if a tank lasts between pay week's and its not my primary car.

as for gas milage thats a question for the bike.

think of it this way gas could double in price and we would all still buy it just drive smaller vehicles mon-thursday and hate it

wait thats what im doing right now.
