Need an altenator pulley???
Where can I get just an Alt. overdrive pulley? Put underdrives on water pump and crank and now its not charging as well as I think it should be. I think I need a smaller pulley, I have been told that I will need to ad another tensioner to get about a 75% wrap on the pulley. I was told a smaller a pulley as small as it is already, if you go smaller you have a problem with slipping?? Any ideas

I have an overdrive pully on my alternator. I have not had any problems with the belt, but it really depends on how much the tensoner is pushed up. |
Ive looked there and all I can find is a complete set opf pulleys. I need Just the altenator pulley.. Any idea what the part number is?

I can't tell you off the top of my head what the part number is. I have the paperwork somewhere at home. If you call them, and tell them what you want they can hook you up with whatever you need. That is what I did.

I think I may have solved the problem.. I got to thinking of maybe getting an altenator pulley off of another car.. one with a smaller pulley.. Trying to figure out what car had a smaller pulley, regardless of make or model I came up short... I then thought about a 81 stang I bought for a few parts one time for $50 bucks. So I go to my buddy's storage yard ( Where he lets me set my junk free:D ) and measure the pulley on my truck with a set of calipers.. Comes to 2.030", So I measure the one on the car altenator and it comes to just over 1.5"s I cant remember the exact measurement but it came to just about 3/4 of an inch smaller. Im gonna put it on this afternoon and post the results.
If this works it will be a CHEAP mod for those with 2 pulley aftermarket sets to get the charge of the altenator and maybe free a few more horses. Bradley |
