Best Intake 4 Nos+306?
Ok I'm ordering a D.S.S. 306 built for Nos. What Intake would be best? I have the Trick Flow Street now and I am pretty sure it won't be up to the task. I've heard some stuff about that comp. polymers box. Some good, some bad, is that upper intake junk?

HONESTLY, I WOULD STICK WITH THE TRICK FLOW.
NOS DOESNT CARE HOW MANY MODS, OR HOW MUCH POWER YOU HAVE, IT ADDS THAT POWER ANYWAYS, NO MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE DONE. HONESTLY, I DONT LIKE BOX INTAKES UNLESS YOUR CAR IS A HIGH RPM MOTOR |
Street intake idle-5500rpm. I want 6000+rpm.
I shoul have gotten the track heat. Is there that much diference? ------------------ 3:55's,BBK Off-Road H-pipe,BBK jet-hot coated equal length shorty headers,BBK 70mm Throttle Body,BBK adjustable clutch quadrant,C & L 76mm Mass air meter,Cobra R's 17x9 w/ 245's,Trick Flow Intake,Flowmaster Force II exhaust system, Super Duty T5,Centerforce II Clutch,Heavy Duty Radiator,9mm Ford racing plug wires,Accel cap and Rotor www.geocities.com/i8urvpr/JM.html?987369348700 |
the track heat would have been a good choice, its powerband is somethin like 1500-6500rpm. i wouldnt go to the box intake imho.
maby you can trade that intake for a track heat |
I would give DSS a call and see what they have found works best on their short block with your combo.

You can get the Track Heat upper for $250....that is the only difference between the Street and track intakes....the lowers are the same.

You have stock heads and your thinking of going past 6000rpms? Im sorry to sound harsh, but your completely lost. The intake you have is fine. And try shifting at 5400 or less.

You completely didn't read what my post was? Did you? Sorry to seem harsh but your completely lost. I posted what intake would be best with a D.S.S. 306 built for nos? Read next time....

Why do you think that Holley's Stage 1 kit doesn't include the Holley SystemMax Intake? It will benefit your NOS, but you won't be running NOS all the time. And when you aren't running it, your car will fall on its @$$. Now if you were to get a blower, then yes, the Track Heat would be best, because you would be running high hp all the time. You need to relax and see that everyone on here is here to help eachother, not bash eachother, remember you tried to slam me on the Street Racers corner. Just cool down, and accept opinions....badmouth the wrong people, and you will find nobody willing to help you on here.... Now, to answer your question. You would notice a big drop in low end, and around about 4K it will start to pull pretty good, but you would be wasting your money unless you get some good heads to go with it....TFS TW's are best to match up. I am prolly selling mine, so if you are interested, let me know. ------------------ Dustin 89 GT (Saleen clone)392 rwhp UNTUNED(TFS Intake, spacer,Heads and #2 cam, BD-11A 9#(only boosting 6???WTF),1.6 rr's,BBK 70mm TB,FMS 70mm MAF,MSD 6BTM,FMS 9mm wires,BBK longtubes and H-Pipe,American Thunder cat back,3.55 lots more... 12.564@118.49 on street tires is my best so far. I completely did read what your post was. It says a DSS 306 built for now. There is no mention of a heads or cam or anything. I figured you were gettin a DSS bottom end because your afraid the nos will blow your stock bottom end. Which it won't. Unless DSS makes heads now you ought to list what type of heads your going to run. How are we supposed to pick an intake if we have no clue what type of combo your running.

Now boys, play nice. Don't make me turn this car around... j/k http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif
1Bad89, what heads are you planning to use? What cam? Is the engine to remain a hydraulic roller lifter engine? Ideally, you want to optimize the combination naturally aspirated, then add the nitrous. ------------------ Moxie Racing The Nitrous Oxide Information Site |
Why in the world would anyone buy a D.S.S. shortblock and put the stock heads on it??? It says a D.s.s. built for nos not built for now. Anyway I'm ordering a LONG BLOCK, not sure what the heads are gonna be, Twisted wedge, canfield, etc... not sure. On there web page they have a "power adder" motor which is what I think I'm going with. Sorry I didn't clarify what I was talking about in my first post, stock heads are junk. Just didn't assume anyone would re-use them. But the only difference between the track heat and the street is the upper you say? Track heat has long runners or the other way around. Yeah I don't take it to 6 now, there's no point to. There is no power up there. Sorry SKY I thought Saleen wrote that sorry to sound harsh post. But I should'nt be like that anyway. Because I guess I just glanced at the bottom and you both run around 12.5's and have a saleen. And to you saleen, I was thinking diablo and I thouht somewhere I read 650hp, thought all Lambo's were close to the same, I tried to reply like 10 times on that other post but it never showed up. I apologize for being a ******* sumtimes.(just turned 18 =p) IT wasjust i couldn't believe a lambo would run 13's, thought sumone told me they ran 11's. Anyway thank you all very much for help. How much for the heads? Why you switching to higher flowing ones or what? Thanks again guys. =P

Hey no prob man....I just like to help, and hold no grudges if there are apologies involved. It's cool.
Yes the Track heat's only difference is the upper. I will have to pull them and have my motor guy look them over before I put a price on them....I am sure they are fine, but I don't want to shaft anyone. I am prolly goin with the AFR 185's, or I may just port mine and re-work them is they are worn a little. Do you ever come down to OKC? ------------------ Dustin 89 GT (Saleen clone)392 rwhp UNTUNED(TFS Intake, spacer,Heads and #2 cam, BD-11A 9#(only boosting 6???WTF),1.6 rr's,BBK 70mm TB,FMS 70mm MAF,MSD 6BTM,FMS 9mm wires,BBK longtubes and H-Pipe,American Thunder cat back,3.55 lots more... 12.564@118.49 on street tires is my best so far. Yeah I come down to OKC every now and then. Know where I can get a saleen wing for a fair price? Anyway, what all have you done to your car?
