Bellhousing, T-5 different from 86 to 93?

I swapped my engine from my 86 to my 93 today. I left the 86 bellhousing on. When I went to put the 93 tranny in, it didn't quite fit. I noticed the cover on the input shaft (bearing housing, I think) is different. Anyhow, I just put the old 86 T-5 in for right now. Do I have to change the bellhousing to use the 93 T-5? Or can I just swap the front bearing retainer, or is that what gives the later T-5's the extra torque capacity?
BTW, when I swapped the engine, I cut the old stock exhaust out of the car. I figured I could drive it a couple days with just the BBK high flow H-pipe and some home made dumps. OMFG! I am not making the neighbors happy. It sounds mean, and it screams at 6000 RPM, but I've gotta drive this thing 90 miles round trip to work, and I've got to drive down to San Diego Thursday. Maybe I can find something tomorrow.

I put a 1991 T-5 on my 86 stock bellhousing without any problems. The bearing retainers are different, the 89 + are steel. You shouldn't have any probs with the install. I even used the bellhousing on my current engine with that 1991 T-5 on it. And my best friend's 86 Capri 5.0 has a 1989 T-5 (4cyl) in it and it fit without a problem too.

Maybe a stupid question, but maybe the '93 is not a T-5? The bearing retainer sticks out maybe 3/4" - 1" around the input shaft and the output shaft housing looks a little different. The one on the '86 has a seal that protrudes about 1-1/2", the '93 seal is recessed. But I used the same shifter on both. Anybody got any ideas or pics of a T-5?

Are you sure that the 93 is like that, and not like a 94-95?

The only site I know of for T-5 ids is: http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2...p/index2.shtml

That site has some good info. I'll check it out when I get home. The tranny is out of a '93 I just bought. It COULD have a '94-'95 tranny in it, I guess.
