Good Cam??

Finally the 302 is getting into my 65......I want to put a cam in it while the motor is out of the car.....what kinda cam you think I should get?? please help...car goes in by the 22nd and I need it by then....thank you

first off what is the rest of your combo? That will determine what kind of cam. Yor question is just like asking what wheels?

STR864 08-14-2003 03:20 AM

Well it's a stock 302 for now...I got underdrive pulleys and thats it...the heads are going to ported and polished....but that is all for now

If you are building a "stock" 302, with factory intake, exhaust, etc., you are wasting your money on an aftermarket cam. Stay with the stock cam and add 1.7 rockers - that will be perfect for you.

With stock ported heads the E-303 would be my first choice.

Agreed, also when you do decide to upgrade your heads there are far more better cams out there than the Alphabet cams from ford.

I worked over set of E7's can make good power with alot of porting and bowl work I had 750 dollars in my E7's

It all depends on how fast you want to run. You can get in the 12's pretty easy with stock ported heads and cam.

We're thinking about upgrading our H/C/I on our 88GT, here's what we've got installed: MAF upgrade, lt headers, underdrive pullies, BlackMagic efan, 75-100 shot.

Overtime the plans are to go with a NOVI2000, what would a good H/C/I setup be for these plans?

There are tons of H/C/I combos out there, what is your budget going to be? Is it going to be limited or can yuo afford the more expensive set ups?

We've got around $3500 to put into the car, we're looking at either a H/C/I, tires, and some suspension work - or a NOVI2000 setup.

The NOVI200 would be cool - but I don't think it'll do much for our times, unless we can change the suspension and add good tires. We're leaning towards option 1 with H/I/C, suspension work and some good tires. Then head down the path for the NOVI later on.

how many miles does the car have?

Mustang_289 08-17-2003 05:21 AM

Car has about 90K miles on it, we ran compression check on cylinders and they're all around the 130-135 range if I remember correctly.

for Heads I'd go with AFR 165's check this article out:

Intake An Edelbrock Performer RPM, For a cam, I'd go with a comp cams NX274HR since you plan on super charging it later:
http://www.compcams.com/catalog/154_155.html
And then all your supporting parts.

I love my Crane 2031. It was a much better choice than any of the FRPP cams. Comp Cmas makes some good stuff too, I just preferred the Crane package!
