F 303 vs x 303

Would I be able to tell a huge differnece between these two cams with this setup? Trick flow heads, Torker II intake, 750 carb (not sure which one), 3.73 gears, in a five speed. THanks a lot!!!!!

I have been thinking about posting that same question.

Well what do you think?

I wouldn't say a huge difference. I've always thought of the F cam as more of a blower/nitrous cam and the X cam as more of a "some street/mostly strip" cam. With the mods you have down I'd use the X cam personally. And depending on what you want from your car that carb might be a little large too. Just a thought. Unless, of course, the heads are ported.

Neither! There's so many off-the-shelf cams out there that are better than the FRPP selection and a custom grind is sure to improve on the OTS cams. Check out some of the cams that Crower, Lunati and Isky offer. If you want the extra HP a custom will provide, then talk with Cam Motions (Terry) or FTI (Ed Curtis).

I've got a f303 and i'm not impressed with its streetability. Its great above 25-3000rpm but less than that it fell short in the daily driver department. I have a stock bottom end with gt-40 intake and heads if that helps. good luck

I would have to agree with Jeff Chambers. OTS cams from Ford Motorsport B303,F303,X303, and etc. were good in their day, but there are custom grinds and mass produced custom grinds that are now off the shelf cams you can buy that are dyno tested. Anderson Ford Motorsport has various stages of naturally aspirated to full blower cams. I have a friend who made 614rwhp with the AFM B-4 cam. This couldn't be accomplished with a X303.

I've had no complaints with my daily driver with an F cam. Just don't run under 1,500 too often or it'll buck slightly. (nothing major).

The X cam is simply a B cam with more lift. At least in the Ford catalog anyway.
If you can afford to, and have access to, get a custom cam for your combination, then do it. It'll be much better than an OTS cam. For a carb'd setup, I'd say the X since its so close to the old carb'd ford cam, the B.
