8.8 rear end
why is there a weight block on the 8.8 rear end pumpkin, and can it be removed with out any bad effects to the rear????
|
Supposed to stop vibration. I know of people who don't have it, don't know of any bad effects.

I had mine removed when I had my gears put in. It's around 9lbs and basically a 75/25 chance you will be ok. The other 25% of the people experience vibrations at high speeds (highway speeds) and need to get a balanced aluminum driveshaft. If I were you though, I'd take it off and see if you get a vibration, if you don't, great, if you do, it just gives you an excuse to upgrade to an aluminum driveshaft.:) ~Brian

Rip it out, man! I took mine off with my 3.73's and I get a bit of vibration at 80mph but nothing out of the saftey zone. You should be running an aluminum driveshaft anyway, in my humble opinion, they are so much lighter and beefier.

The weight is to dmpen vibration of the "stock" gears.
If you have changed gears the weight is now useless and should be removed. |
thanks guys
