94-95 Cobra questions????
I'm looking to get a 94-95 cobra soon, whats the difference in the 94-95 cobra 5.0 and an early 90's 5.0 motor? I figured it had GT-40 heads/Cobra intake, what else and what kind of power difference?????

the cobras had gt40 heads, cobra intake, i think a different cam, 1.6 roller rockers i beleive and a different computer. They were rated at 240hp but i believe that was underrated.

What would it take to get it well into the 13's? I know the first things I'll want to have is headers, dr. gas/bassani/bbk x-pipe w/flowmasters, 3.73 or 4.10 gears, subframe connectors/control arms. Would 1.7 rockers help out or would the just hurt the bottom end power? I'd eventually like to be running at least 12's, but I don't want to make it straight line car.

Also, are there any differences between the 94 and 95 cobra?
|
you would probably run in the 13's with the combination above. My brother has a 94 cobra. and he ran a 14.1 with the stock 3:08 gears and all he really has done is long tube headers, mac pro chamber, flows, cold air, and subframe connectors, and a pro 5.0 shifter. 94's and 95's are the same.

94 & 95 Cobra's are identical. They also have 1.7 rockers. You also get the benefit of ABS with the big discs and the stiffer SN-95 chassis.
If you buy the book at www.svtcobraguide.com it will have all the info you could ask for! |
I dodn't know they had 1.7 rockers already. What cam comes stock? Also, other than exhaust what would be one of the better bolt-ons to do right away that would help out? If it doean't already have steep gears, I'll probably try and replace them asap w/3.73's or 4.10s (not sure yet, any suggestions?). I just hope everyhting works out and I can get a Cobra in the next month or so, my Van was broken into last week and all my cd's/drill/bike/cd player was stolen along with 2 windows busted out and my door trashed from where they broke out the lock. Hopefully I'll get a decent down payment out of the mess. The 94-95's still come w/WC T-5's right?

With the 1.7's, the '93-95 Cobra cam comes in at .480/.480 with duration figures of 270/270. It's really not much better than just putting the 1.7's on the HO cam but you have a bit less duration.
All the T-5's in the V-8's were World-Class versions after '85. For '93 and later, you just get the carbon fiber blocking rings and the tapered roller bearing between the input shaft and main shaft. Hope that helps! |
