smog pump

So I'm thinking about getting rid of my smog pump...it's not doing anything anyway. So can I just rip all that shit out of there? Will I get a check engine light or anything stupid? Thanks!

If it's the Mustang in your signature, with NO cats, then you might as well ditch it. The only reason it's there is to help with the oxidation process in the catalyst beds, so have at it if they're not installed. :) btw, I'm sure you know this, but don't expect any HP gains from removing it. ;)

Oh, almost forgot: are you gonna take out the piping as well?

If you're not running cats, you might as well toss it...it's worth a good 30 pounds. The EEC might still get upset if you remove the tab/tad solenoids and throw a code.

Thanks! Well I pretty much planned on tearing all of it out pipes included. I know there's some vac lines running to some of the stuff so I just didn't want the car to start running poorly cause it wasn't getting input from something. I've got the engine apart porting the heads so I figured I might as well take the smog pump off while I've got it apart. Thanks again.

You will get a code throw without the smog pump hooked up, because of the vac that are no longer being used. I removed mine a year ago, with no adverse problems.
