good subframe connectors
What are the best subframes I can buy that won't require floorboard cutting?

I hear that box-style ones are good cause they stiffen better than tube style. Also, the longer the better. For instance, FMS sells box-style and I belive it's better than the Steeda tubular w/ crossbrace kit.

I haven't bought any yet. I've been looking around and I think I'm going to get the Kenny Brown ones. They have a cross brace in the middle and you can get thier extreme matrix brace. From the pictures on thier web sight it looks like the best support system I've seen so far. But I don't know I don't have them yet. I'd like to here from someone who does. |
Last year I bought C/E subframes and found out that the floorboards needed to be cut. I took them back and bought some other goodies instead!! Now I really want to buy a pair.

We have a local shop around here that makes his own. They have been in a few publications like 5.0 Magazine and people raved about them. I have them on my car and they were straight weld-in, no cutting. I can't remember the cost, like $150 or something. Give him a call 727-507-9453. I know it's all the way down here, but these are very nice pieces. I don't even go to his shop anymore, but if I ever needed subframes for another car, I'd still go there.
*Edit- Forgot the name of the shop is IdleWild Racing. ------------------ My 94 GT http://members.home.net/caruso14/fasford2.jpg [This message has been edited by fordmanck (edited 07-10-2001).] |
Around here $150 for subframe connectors is expensive. I can get some name brand units up here for between $90-$110 dollars.
Thanks for the info though. ------------------ '82 GT 351W C-4,BBK headers,Carter 625 carb,Comp.Cam,Flowmaster exhaust. 1988 GT...T-5,bone stock |
I've got Kenny Brown subframe connectors on my car 2 years ago. They are boxed w/ a cross brace. They stiffened up the car a bunch. Got them from Down's Ford (N.J.) for a little over $100.
