horn not working in 87 LX
 

Hey,
I just bought a 1987 Mustang LX a few days ago. The guy had told me when I looked at it that the horn didn't work. When I called him to let him know that I wanted to buy it I ask him if he had fixed the horn and he said yes. The horn was working for a little bit and then stopped working. Haven't really started looking that much to see what it could be but I can't get a sticker without that being fixed. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is an easy fix and I'm just retarded.

It will be either a blown fuse, bad relay, or bad connection right at the horn. Check the connections and the fuse first. The relay is under the dash.

When I saisd bad connection at the starter, I meant at the horn. Thats what happens when someone is talking in your ear while your typing.

The cigar lighter is on the same circuit as the horn. My horn went out once and it turned out that something fell inside my cigar lighter socket and would bounce around until it shorted.

Well I checked today and it ended up just being the fuse. I thought that I woudl post so that if it wasn't then I would have some ideas as to what it could be. Thanks for the help.

It did work with the new fuse in it for a little while and then stopped again. So the fuse must have blown again for some reason....

Your horn may be drawing too much amperage. What size fuse did you use? Check for any wires rubbed through along the wire to the horn.

what number fuse is that?

Well we found out that power was going to the horns and when the horn that doesn't have a wire grounding it was plugged in, it would always blow a fuse. With that one disconnected it would work fine and not blow any fuses. So I just have one hooked up for now.
