gear change/speedo correction on '93 AOD

I am planning on having the 2.73's changed out to some 3.55's in my '93 5.0 LX w/automatic trans. Gears are from a '03 Cobra-no problem using those, right?

Next, to correct the speedo, what is necessary to accomplish that? Will it be within a couple mph in accuracy?

Thanks

Get the speedo gear that goes on the end of your speedo cable. I don't know which one it is for the 3.55's, though. I am pretty sure they still used 8.8 gears in the IRS. Someone else can verify that?

speedo gear

I found that a 23 tooth gear is what I need. On another site it was mentioned that these gears don't last too long-anyone have experience with that?

Where is a good source for these speedo cable gears?

As for the ring and pinion gears, the 3.55's are from a 8.8 '03 Cobra-local dealer says they will work fine.

incorrect link?

Thanks for the info, but tried that link but it didn't work. Even tried a search for it w/o any luck.

I checked on the 50resto site for a speedo gear for my '93 AOD and they list a 23 tooth gear for $10.95, but they also had the following listed:
"Owners of 1990-93 automatic equipped cars must use a gear reduction box to correct the speedometer which are available at most transmission shops. "

Has anyone used a gear reduction box, is it necessary or will just using the 23 tooth gear get me back somewhat close to the actual speed?
