narrowing 8.8 rear
I am looking to narrow an 8.8 for use in my 89 coupe and retain the stock four link setup. I also want to use the Moser 9" ends instead of the C-clip eliminators and use a deeper wheel(3.5" back space). Moser has to cut the housing for the the new ends anyway so I figured it could be narrowed some. Has anyone done this or have any ideas or advice. Thanks....

You will want to be careful on your brake selection. Since all the shortening will be done outside of the LCA and shock mounts, you will have trouble with the calipers hitting the shocks. In a friends car we were able to get a Wilwood kit to work by mounting the calipers on the very bottom.

Thanks Andy669. Should have mentioned I will be using the stock drum brakes as crazy as that sounds. I think Moser said the ends were about 2.25" long so that does not leave much room for cutting and welding..How much did your buddy cut his 8.8 housing and retain all the stock mounts?

Im not sure exactly how much was cut off of it. He uses a 3 7/8 bs wheel. Mine is shortened 2.5 and I use a 5.5 wheel.
